I LOVE music. LOVE it.
I also love this link-up that Helene came up with that is all about the songs that define you.
Well their is a lot of songs that I could have picked for this, but these are the ones that really stood out and are a part of me.

Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith

I remember being like 8 years old riding in the car with my dad listening to this song and instead of singing the lyrics “sweet emotion” saying “sweet home shine”. This was also the song playing when we walked into the reception at our wedding.

All Apologies by Nirvana

8th grade. I was obsessed with Nirvana in 8th grade, Kurt Cobain in particular. I kid you not I had a binder filled with Nirvana song lyrics and I would just read them over and over and dissect them. I loved watching videos on Kurt’s death and to this day my favorite book in the world is Kurt Cobain’s notebook diary.

Climb to Safety by Widespread Panic

I don’t really know what it is about this song that I love so much, but since the first time I heard it back in high school- I’ve been in love. It is not one of Panic’s popular songs, so when they played it one of the times I saw them in concert I died. AMAZING.

More Than a Feeling by Boston
Just listen to the lyrics. Perfect. And that rift…AHHH.

Dancing Nancies by Dave Matthews Band
Their is so many amazing DMB songs, but this one has always been my favorite. I actually wrote a paper on it in college and got to really look into the meaning behind the song. Hint: hookers.

Kozmic Blues by Janis Joplin
If I could meet any person in the world (dead or alive) it would be Janis Joplin. She is perfect and amazing and this is hands down my favorite song of hers.

Kashmir by Led Zeppelin

It is hard to even single out a Led Zeppelin song that has shaped me in some way, because that band in general means so much to me. I have a tattoo on my lower stomach of the symbols off of their album, and I will never regret getting it. I got it partially just as a reminder of how much I love the band, but also to kind of commemorate that whole genre of music and how much I love classic rock. Led Zeppelin is hands down the best band that has ever existed and today’s music is just a joke compared to them. Sorry!
